12:10 am I'm still on lj. I just haven't posted. I just stare at your life in complete silence.
Creepy amirite.
Anyway.
Moving to Perth on Monday. Went up a couple of weeks back to find a share house - interesting story involving a backpackers with late night squishy sex sounds, an appointment with a dominatrix (much to my disappointment, this was cancelled), and being snubbed by neptunenobody*.
Currently getting around to packing. And trying to work out which books can be packed away in boxes at dad's. So far I've filled half a big sports bag with ones I want to take with me. Annnnd part of my suitcase. So, basically, most of my luggage is going to end up being books.
I think I may have a problem.
*She wears cheap glasses. Trufax.

10:07 am - Quotable Quotation
I hate the ex-gay movement with a passion beyond words, but I always have to laugh when I hear that term, because every time I hear it, I imagine John Cleese screaming "THIS IS AN EX-FAGGOT!"

02:29 pm oh, and other news:
sigur rós are simply amazing. I bought a CD of theirs this week ("Takk...") and I think they may be rivalling Portishead for favourite band ever already.

01:35 pm I haven't updated in ages.
So. Quick version. V. sick of job, have put in notice. Leave 9th February. Still totally undecided w/r/t what the hell I'm doing.
Um. Spent a couple of days feeling lousy and then topped it off by coming off my bike yet a-fucking-gain last night and doing my wrist in. Again. Argh. It's really painful when I try to use it, so I've taken a sick day. Take that, crappy job. Of course, it'll still hurt when I go in tomorrow, but I guess I can just suck it up.

07:58 pm Man, I haven't posted here in a while. I keep meaning to, but... yeah. This may be rambling a bit because I've had around two or three glasses of wine and I'm a damn cheap drunk.
This may also be why I decided sweet potato, kidney beans and soy sauce are an ideal combination. It's not that bad, really.
So, anyway. The other week I had a customer ask for smokes and get mouthy when I asked him for ID - he'd come in a few times before and never had ID on him. He reckoned he was going to smash my face in or something. Blah blah. Boss took it to the police and they ended up telling him off. Turns out he was 18 anyway. Dickhead.
Big boss gave me a hamper & a reaaaallly nice bottle of wine that I'm currently drinking for christmas. Nice, huh?
Last few days have been fucking hell, man. We've had at the very least double the amount of customers we have in a normal day - which means running around all day madly trying to keep up with it. The other guy at work managed to fucking forget he was scheduled on for opening the shop on Boxing day - luckily my dad was going past and rang me to tell me no one was in the store at 7:10 (we open at 7) in the morning. I wasn't supposed to be on until 12:30, but I knew that Kerri (manager) was out camping so I went in to open up and ended up hearing from Tom at 12:10 asking when his shift started.
Found out a friend of my brother's was in a bad trailbike accident. Last anyone I spoke to heard he was in Perth in an induced coma with multiple fractures. :\ Can't say I particularly like him, but ... yeah.
Ordered more books. Have a bunch to read again - finished reading what GRR Martin has written of his Song of Ice and Fire series and read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. One of those supposed sci-fi classics I've been meaning to read. Quite good, really. I think I'll try some more of his stuff - even if it does mean supporting a rather fundamentalist mormon.
Okay, enough inane rambling. I'm going to lie in bed with another glass of wine and watch The Devil Wears Prada. I feel so gay admitting that. :\

11:27 pm So. My brother has a surprise wedding. I only learned a day or so before and most people didn't find out until after.
Yup. Wedding. Marriage. Jenn is now my sister in law. It was, in part, to do with simplifying visas and such, but ... yeah. Wow.
It's pretty bizarre, really.
In other news, I really need send a bunch of stuff. I have stuff for both Renee and Jenny, but Chiara is puzzling. Something incredibly tacky, I think. I should find something at the second hand book store ... maybe a pre-loved copy of My Steve by Terri Irwin?

07:11 pm Losing our humanity
'Who is responsible?' is a question asked as to who will be accountable for the deaths of asylum seekers who were rejected by Australia and sent back to their own country or another one when it was determined by Australian immigration officials that they did not have a case for a well founded fear of their lives.
Segment of Late Night Live with the fantastic Phillip Adams. The man he's interviewing also made a documentary on the subject that SBS is showing tomorrow night at 8:30.

10:10 pm My wrist is almost completely better now.
Apparently having functioning joints isn't a possibility - my knee decided to go for no apparent reason 24 minutes into a run, so I got to do an hour limp or so to get home.
Stupid body.

09:24 am Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Dad is in a OMG JETHRO IS COMING HOME CLEAAAAAAAN spree - which included dousing the bathroom drains in bleach.
Without removing the dirty clothes we'd chucked under the bathroom sink. I needed to wash and a good portion of my wardrobe was under there. Most of it is now covered in discoloured spots from bleach splash. Including my favourite shirt. :(
Bloody twit.

08:35 pm It's probably not a good thing that the wrist I fell on two weeks ago is still causing me trouble. Hum.

10:13 pm Anyone watch the first episode of First Australians on SBS tonight? I was hoping it'd try to tell us more before European contact, but it was really really interesting. It continues on Tuesday if anyone is interested - and apparently you can watch aired episodes on the SBS site ...

07:53 pm Jogged over 18km this evening, but had a fall in the dark on the even footpath on the way back - managed to really screw up my bad wrist again..
Have it wrapped now, but it's still intensely painful. I'm sure after the jog the rest of me will be feeling much the same in around 10 minutes. I'm such a dumbass.

10:38 pm Hooly crap.
Just had to have a conversation with mum that I suspected would upset her. She's been excited about picking up Jethro and Jenn at the end of November and then spending some time with them in Albany.
Today I got an email from them saying they'd switched flights and would be home on the 5th instead and wanted me to see about possible lifts back to Esperance from Perth - and they'd spend time in Albany on the dates they'd originally planned, but they would be in Esperance for a while first. I told them mum would be upset if we organized someone else and I'd see anyway.
I was right - "upset" didn't cover it. 1:45 of mum close to tears, dumping everything she's found upsetting for the last 18 months on me, guilt tripping me, probably commenting that she might as well just die (she does that one a fair bit, but I can't remember if she did it tonight or not), more dumping ...
I wanted to leave the option of her bringing them to Esperance if she wanted to ... but she doesn't think she can. And she thinks Kelly (dad's girlfriend, who she is very unfond of. Mind you, she's been pissing me off lately too) will likely be the one to pick him up and is rather upset at that too. Oh, and apparently I caught her as she was going to sleep with a bad headache after a really crappy day. Lucky me.
Oh well. She recovered a bit towards the end.
I'll say this - it's never a boring conversation with her.
